The Sweetwater Singers will be presenting a new concert on Friday, February 2, 2024, 7:30 pm at Douglasville First United Methodist Church, 6167 Prestley Mill Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134. The concert - featuring four hands at one piano accompaniment, a new amazing work by Mack Wilberg as well as four other pieces that are familiar, classic and of the best choral music ever written - will be a moving experience for the listener as well as the musicians.
Featuring “A Cloud of Witnesses” by Mack Wilberg, the choir will perform a new work that tells a familiar story, but one that is not often sung about. They will take the listener on a journey that weaves together different witness accounts of the 40 day period between the resurrection - starting with the women at the empty tomb - and the ascension where Christ promises to continually be with those believe. The choir will also sing choral music classics by Beethoven, Gilbert Martin and Peter Lutkin.
Sandra Chandler is the artistic director and conductor of the 50 member choir with voices from Douglas, Caroll, Paulding and Cobb counties. “This concert is for everyone” says Ms. Chandler. “Come and be a part of an experience, regardless of your personal taste in music.
